Introduction to Watercolors  

DO NOT PURCHASE SUPPLIES FOR WEEK 1. We will discuss this in the first class.

   

This class is designed for the very basics of watercolors. It will include the simplest techniques, such as washes, wet into wet, wet into dry & dry into dry. We will learn how to set up a drawing, understand the importance of values and the basics of color theory. We will learn about brushes and brush work, the different types of papers, paints, and pallets, along with special techniques of using masking.

Instructor Info

Michael Las Casas is an accomplished local artist experienced in watercolors, oils, pastels, street painting, screen printing, graphic design, graphite, and color pencil. Michael is a member of the Color Pencil Society of America, Florida Plein Aire Artists Association, and a perennial favorite “Featured Artist” of the Street Painting Festival in downtown Lake Worth. He studied fine arts at the University of Wisconsin, Baraboo. He was the art director for Palm Beach Funwear screen printed apparel, and Flipcity Graphix, and is the art editor for a local governmental agency.
