Teen Week 8: Printmaking & Soft Sculpture

Teen Week 8: Printmaking & Soft Sculpture

Explore a range of printmaking processes with both a traditional and non-traditional approach. Students master screen printing by creating stencils and expressive techniques that are popular in street art, journaling, fashion, and graphic design.

Soft & Hard Sculpture

As an introduction to sculpture in both mediums, there will be instruction on a number of skill-based exercises in form, shape, color, light, and shadow. Alongside these exercises students will develop their own personal projects. Soft sculpture focuses on using textiles, fiber, paper, foam, and soft found objects to create free standing or hanging objects. Think Claes Oldenburg and Yayoi Kusama. Hard sculpture employs clay that dries hard when it is coiled, pinched, or slabbed and also rigid found objects. Think Michealangelo and Louise Nevelson.
