This workshop will explore both plein air painting and the process of abstraction. During the mornings we will work outdoors in a traditional plein air approach—developing tonal relationships, searching for a convincing sense of space and light, and applying paint in different ways. In the afternoons we will work indoors on one canvas for the duration of the four days, using our morning paintings as source material for an ongoing and improvisational discovery of abstract painting. Risk and play will be encouraged!
A supply list is emailed to students upon registration of the workshop.
