Subtracting and Adding-Carving and Construction

Subtracting and Adding-Carving and Construction

The act of carving leads to a different visual vocabulary of form than that of fabrication in sheet and wire. This class will explore the carving of non-metal materials, which could be wood, plastic, or Richlite (a material comprised of re-cycled paper in a natural resin). The second aspect of the class will be to use construction techniques that will embellish and make functional the carved forms, resulting in pieces of jewelry or small-scale objects.
